FIVE-TIME WORLD CHAMPION EMPIRE STATESMEN AND OTHER BANDS TO PERFORM AT VICTOR HIGH SCHOOL

Join us for an evening of dynamic musical entertainment when the five-time Drum Corps Associates World Champions, The Empire Statesmen, perform their 2009 program, “Out of Many, One: the American Destiny,” at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Victor Central High School Auditorium (953 High St, Victor). 

The evening will also feature performances by Empire Statesmen Cadets, the Victor Marching Blue Devils and the Victor Indoor Percussion Ensemble. This music-filled event is sponsored by the Victor Band Boosters. Tickets are $6.00 per person and are available at Canandaigua National Bank locations on Main Street in Victor, Farmington, and Eastview Mall.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Victor Marching Blue Devils organization. 

The Empire Statesmen are proud to present their 2009 program entitled “Out of Many, One: the American Destiny!”   In their one-of-a kind way the Statesmen will entertain you with a variety of well known and appealing music which conveys the rich tapestry and mosaic of the American spirit, identity and values.

“We are extremely excited to be hosting the Empire Statesman,” said Kim Lehman, Victor Band Booster event chairperson. “It truly will be a fun-filled, enjoyable evening for people of all ages.” 

About the Empire Statesmen 

The Empire Statesmen is a unique musical organization that has excited audiences worldwide since 1983.  Director Vincent Bruni established the Corps with the philosophy that the audience must be presented with rich and exciting entertainment.  That is why the Empire Statesmen enjoy a presentation style that sets them apart from all other Drum Corps.  Each year’s show theme combines intricate music with fast-paced precision choreography of Corps, colorguard and graphics.  The entire effect is designed to excite and please the most sophisticated audiences. 

About the Victor Marching Blue Devils     

The Victor Marching Blue Devils family of programs includes the Victor Marching Blue Devils Field Band, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Varsity Winterguard, and Cadet Guard. The group’s successful history consists of winning six New York State Field Band State Championships, including 2006 and 2007. In 2008, the Victor Indoor Percussion Ensemble was crowned New York State PSA-1 Division State Champions and the Varsity Winter Guard took third place in the 2008 Northeast Colorguard Circuit Championships.      The Victor Marching Blue Devils are a forward thinking organization that uses the pageantry arts as a vehicle to provide hundreds of students of the Victor Central School District with an environment that will promote the pursuit of personal excellence in artistic expression, physical achievement, and sportsmanship. Our goal is to prepare students to perform in life.

Victor Percussion Ensemble Competes in State Championship

 The 2009 Victor Indoor Percussion Ensemble recently competed in the New York State Percussion Circuit Championships held at Victor High School on April 5, 2009. Victor placed second in the PSRO division with their performance of It’s About Time. In addition, Victor received one caption award at the championship event for “Best Cymbal Line” in the PSRO division. 

More than 1,000 people attended the event where 600 participants representing 23 percussion ensembles from New York State, Pennsylvania and Canada competed throughout the day. The Victor Ensemble is composed of 29 students in grades 7 through 12. The 2009 Victor show, It’s About Time, featured part of the song “Clocks” by Cold Play. The group began rehearsing for the season in November and have practiced each week for a total of more than 150 hours to prepare for weekly competitions and the state championships.  

“We want to thank the students and families who took part in this event as well as the Victor Band Boosters, volunteers, staff members, the Victor Central School District and the Victor community for their support in making this event a success,” said Chris Hawk, show coordinator.  

The ensemble is under the direction of Ted Mascari. Other staff includes: Mark Rider, Kirk Gay, Patsy VanKirk, Johnathan Ytreberg, Shane Startzel, Janelle Cama, Joe Taylor, Ted Shawe, Susan Palomaki and Tom Palomaki.

Victor to Host New York State Percussion Championships

On Sunday, April 5, 2009, the Victor Band Boosters will host the 2009 New York State Percussion Circuit Championships at Victor Central School (953 High St.) beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $9.00 for adults, $7.00 for senior citizens and children under 10.

 

This year’s event will represent the largest gathering for state championships in the organization’s history. More than 600 participants, representing 23 percussion ensembles from across New York State will compete in groups ranging from junior high to college class. Participating schools include: Victor, Alexandria, Baldwinsville, Batavia, Central Square, Cicero-North Syracuse, Cornell University, Dundee, East Syracuse-Minoa, Elmira Southside, EPIC Percussion Theater, Hilton, Jordan-Elbridge, Liverpool Middle School, Marcus Whitman, Midlakes, New Hartford, Onondaga Community College, Phoenix, Presque Isle, Waterloo Middle and High School and Westhill.

 

Performances will take place sequentially throughout the afternoon between 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.  The Victor Percussion Ensemble (defending PSA-1 Division New York State champions) will perform at 5:20 p.m.

           

The event is sponsored by the Victor Band Boosters and the New York State Percussion Circuit, with support from the Victor Central School District.
